Nancy Lasar – Artist Statement

In drawing, painting, and printmaking, my focus is on layering and energizing space so that objects appear fluid, interconnected, and dynamic. I use a range of lines, marks, and media to suggest both stillness and the possibility of transformation. My work attempts to describe the multiple realities that intermingle through memory, imagination, and daily experience, allowing images to emerge, diverge, and form new relationships.

Critics have described my work using phrases like “drawing with light,” “condensed energy and flow,” “calm and crazy,” and “organized chaos.” Recent work shows an evolution of style while maintaining the same core message. It encourages viewers to look more closely at the world around them. My varied works reflect the depth and complexity of my observations. As I see it, “we are tuning forks of emotion, reacting to the world around us, vibrating at frequencies beyond logic, and struggling to reflect, adjust, and move forward in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.”
